Pixel Ruler

Several times in the past I’ve wanted an easy way to determine the number of pixels of something on my screen. For whatever reason, I ended up relying on estimation and trial-and-error. Why didn’t I just google “pixel ruler”? Silly me.

The very first result is just what I needed: mioplanet’s Pixel Ruler. It’s a simple application–basically just a ruler that sits on top of all your other windows. It can be used either horizontally or vertically, and it tracks your mouse position along the ruler in case you’re measuring the distance between objects that are not in alignment with each other along the ruler’s edge.

(By the way, you might want to download it using IE–using Firefox I got an error saying the file wasn’t found.)

Thanks for the link! I use the free version of Iconico’s Screen Calipers, but another tool might have an advantage in one or two situations (odd colors or whatnot).

Very nice. I like it. Thanks for the link.

It would be really cool though if they had some way of hiding it without acually closing it. Maybe by telling it not to be “always on top”.

    Good little utility though.
