Test results

(Referring to the previous post.)

Well, Google spidered the normal link within 24 hours of me putting it up, and in a couple of days it was in the index. But it has not touched either of the pages in the dropdown at all. So I’m thinking that the only way Google could ever know about these pages would be for someone to link to them normally, or maybe for someone using the Google toolbar to visit those pages (just a theory I’ve seen other people mention). Possibly Google might go through the page source at a future point in time to look for URLs not in normal links, but it doesn’t seem like the odds are that good.

Hey Jennifer…it’s interesting to see how some elements are handled by search engines while indexing pages. I wish I had a comprehensive understanding of the whole process, but I’d guess I’m not the only one.

A heads up for ya, the links to your feeds aren’t working correctly, since you moved the blog to jennifergrucza.com/blog/. All of the feeds are still there, but under jennifergrucza.com/feed/, instead of /blog/feed/. (I finally remembered to add you to my feed reader)

    Hope all is well!

Hi Aaron! Nice to hear from you.

Yeah, I’ve known about the feeds being messed up for a little while now (it actually happened when I upgraded my WordPress installation, not when I moved to /blog/). There appears to be something weird going on with my .htaccess or something - I’ve looked into it some, but couldn’t figure it out quickly, and haven’t had the energy or time to look into it further. I really should, I know. :)
