Garden in the Woods

Today I went to Garden in the Woods, a very nice park in the midst of suburban Framingham. There’s a meandering trail around the garden, with all the various plants (mostly native to New England and North America) neatly labeled for visitors. Unlike most typical gardens, Garden in the Woods has a very natural, wild feel to it.

This is an Umbrella Tree, if I remember correctly.

There were lots of dragonflies flitting about, mostly around the lily pond and the marshy area.

According to the sign, these are Yellow Pitcher Plants, which are carnivorous plants. Too bad they didn’t trap more insects, because I was being eaten alive by mosquitos.

Funny, I went there for the fisrt time this weekend, too! I went yesterday. It was very nice and relaxing but I was hoping to see more color - more flowers. But as the garden is in the woods, maybe I was expecting too much.

Yeah, there weren’t that many flowers. Maybe it’s just this particular time of year - maybe you would find more in the spring.
